By using Rate Ranger (the "Service"), you agree to the following terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Service Description
Rate Ranger is an informational service that monitors publicly available hotel prices across third-party booking websites. You can reach us at hello@rateranger.io.
We are not a hotel booking service, travel agency, or booking platform. We do not sell, resell, or facilitate hotel reservations.
When you submit booking details through our website form, we periodically check publicly available prices for the same hotel and dates, and notify you by email if we find a lower price. By submitting the form, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using Rate Ranger, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
3. No Guarantee of Accuracy
All pricing information is sourced from publicly available third-party websites over which we have no control. Prices are provided on an "as-is" basis. We do not guarantee:
- The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any price shown
- That any price will still be available when you attempt to book
- That room types, amenities, or terms will exactly match your original booking
- That a lower price represents actual savings after considering cancellation fees, rebooking fees, or differences in room terms
Prices may change at any time without notice. You are solely responsible for verifying all prices, terms, and availability directly with the booking platform before making any booking or cancellation decisions.
Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable law.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law and without affecting your statutory rights, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without any express or implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or uninterrupted availability.
We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times. Service interruptions may occur due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Rate Ranger and its operator shall not be liable for any:
- Pricing errors or discrepancies in information sourced from third parties
- Missed savings opportunities or delayed notifications
- Cancellation fees or rebooking costs incurred as a result of acting on our notifications
- Loss of bookings, reservations, or deposits
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages of any kind
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or (c) any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Your use of the Service and any decisions made based on the information we provide are at your own risk. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
6. Booking Links
Price drop alert emails contain links to third-party booking platforms where you can rebook at a lower price. These links go directly to the booking site.
Our selection of prices to display is based on price alone. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any hotel chain, online travel agency, or booking platform.
7. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party data sources and platforms to provide pricing information. We have no control over the availability, accuracy, or terms of these third-party services.
When you click a link in a price drop alert and visit a booking platform, you enter into a relationship with that third-party platform, not with Rate Ranger. Those platforms have their own terms of service and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
8. Free Tier & Pricing
The Service is currently provided free of monetary charge. In exchange for the Service, you provide personal data (such as your email address and booking details) which is processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to introduce paid plans or change pricing in the future. If we do, we will provide at least 30 days' notice to active users by email. Any bookings submitted under the free tier will continue to be monitored at no charge until their natural expiration (check-out date).
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Submit fraudulent or fabricated booking information
- Attempt to overload, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the Service
- Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited communications
- Attempt to abuse automated form submission or bulk submissions
If you violate these terms, we may suspend or terminate your access to the Service in accordance with Section 12 (Termination). We will use reasonable judgment and consider the severity and nature of any violation before taking action.
10. Intellectual Property
All Rate Ranger branding, content, and software are owned by the operator. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our written permission.
By submitting booking details, you grant us a limited licence to process that content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. You retain ownership of your personal data at all times.
11. Data Processing
Your personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. The lawful bases for processing, your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and our data retention schedule are described in the Privacy Policy.
If you stop using the Service or your access is terminated, your data will be handled in accordance with the retention schedule in our Privacy Policy. You may exercise your data protection rights (including erasure and data portability) at any time by contacting us or using the links in our emails.
12. Termination
By you: You may stop using the Service at any time by unsubscribing via the link in any email, or by contacting us at hello@rateranger.io.
By us, for cause: If you violate the Acceptable Use terms (Section 9), we may suspend or terminate your access immediately. We will notify you by email with the reason for the action.
By us, without cause: If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide at least 30 days' notice to active users by email.
Effect of termination: Upon termination, your active bookings will no longer be monitored. You may request deletion of your data at any time in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
13. Modifications to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify active users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you may stop using the Service and request deletion of your data before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of consumer protection law in your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms restricts those protections.
Informal resolution: If you have a concern or dispute, we encourage you to contact us first at hello@rateranger.io. We will make every reasonable effort to resolve the matter promptly and fairly.
Alternative dispute resolution: If we are unable to resolve your concern informally, you may also submit your dispute to an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) body in your country of residence. Information about ADR bodies in the EU is available from the European Commission and your national consumer protection authority.
Courts: If a dispute remains unresolved, legal proceedings may be brought in the courts of Ireland, or, if you are a consumer resident in an EU/EEA member state, in the courts of your country of residence in accordance with applicable law.
15. Entire Agreement & Severability
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Rate Ranger regarding your use of the Service.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
16. Assignment
We may assign or transfer these Terms, and any rights and obligations under them, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, provided that the assignee agrees to honour these Terms. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent.
